Rich Hill is on track to tie an MLB record this week.

Hill was signed by the Kansas City Royals to a minor-league deal in May. He is being promoted to the bigs and is set to start against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday.

The Royals will be the 14th MLB team for whom Hill has played. That would tie Edwin Jackson’s record, as Jackson also played for 14 teams.

Hill, 45, would immediately become the oldest player in MLB upon his promotion. He made four appearances with the Boston Red Sox last year and allowed two earned runs over 3.2 innings. The season before that, he pitched 146.1 innings total — mostly with the Pirates, but also with the Padres.

Hill has gone 4-4 with a 5.36 ERA in Triple-A this season. He struck out 10 batters in five innings during his last start. Hill has gone 90-74 with a 4.01 ERA over his 20-year MLB career.
