The Milwaukee Brewers re-signed Mike Moustakas this offseason even though they already have a third baseman in Travis Shaw, but they’re planning to try and get flexible to make things work.
Milwaukee wants to try and see if Moustakas can play some second base, which would allow both him and Shaw in the lineup at the same time. Manager Ned Yost, a former Brewers manager who managed Moustakas in KC, has “no doubt” Moustakas can play the middle infield.
Ned Yost on Mike Moustakas’ spring fling at second base: “No doubt, he can do it. He took grounders over there all the time and he was fine. I have no doubt he’ll be able to do it.”

Moustakas played third base exclusively for the Brewers after being traded there last season. Shaw played some first and made 36 starts at second after Moustakas was acquired. The more flexible Moustakas can be, the more options Milwaukee will have as they try to improve upon last year’s NLCS finish.
