
Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez underwent successful Tommy John surgery on Wednesday.
In a statement released by the club, they reaffirmed the expectation that Perez will miss the entirety of the 2019 season, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Perez isn’t a pitcher, so the surgery is a bit less risky for him, though throwing is a big part of his game. The expectation that he’ll be back and capable of once again reaching his best in 2020 seems to be a strong one. He did his best to seek out other options to avoid the procedure, but this was the way it had to be. It’s unfortunate, but a full recovery looks likely.
