Sam Dyson picks fight with Edwin Encarnacion after home run
The Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers got into a fight after Sam Dyson misinterpreted some gestures by Edwin Encarnacion following Jose Bautista’s monstrous home run.
Bautista crushed a 3-run home run to break a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the seventh that sent the Rogers Centre into a frenzy. Fans were going nuts, and Dyson was upset with himself for allowing the home run. He then started something with Encarnacion after seeing the Blue Jays DH gesture towards the fans.
Encarnacion was telling the fans to stop throwing things and being so disruptive. Dyson thought Encarnacion was raising his arms to try pumping up the fans, so he walked up to the Jays slugger and had words with him. Benches cleared on both ends but nothing happened. Encarnacion eventually got his at-bat and reached on an infield single, showcasing just how much the momentum had swung Toronto’s way.
