Shohei Ohtani left his start on Wednesday night early, leading to many questions about his status.
Ohtani came out to warm up for the start of the fifth inning, but he soon left with the Los Angeles Angels’ trainer.
Ohtani warmed up normally, then something happened and the trainer came to the mound. They pulled him pretty quickly.

Ohtani had pitched out of jams in the first and fourth and was losing 1-0 to the Kansas City Royals when he was replaced. He allowed one run on four hits and three walks over four innings, bringing his ERA to 3.10 for the season.
The Angels have given Ohtani extra rest to manage his workload this season. He’s missed time as a pitcher this season with a blister issue.
