Shohei Ohtani feels he can be ready to return this month
There is good news on the Shohei Ohtani injury recovery front.
Ohtani spoke with the media on Thursday and said that he feels like he could be ready to return later this month.
Shohei Ohtani said he’s stretched out his throwing to about 60 feet. Took 50 swings today, including 25 on the field and he said he feels his swing and power are there. He said he feels he could be ready to hit in games by the end of April, but he understands the Angels’ caution.

Though Ohtani thinks he could be ready within weeks, the Los Angeles Angels are making the decisions on his return and probably will keep him on a timeline to return next month.
Based on the way he hit last season, the 1-5 Angels could really use him in their lineup. Ohtani batted .285 with 21 doubles, 22 homers and a .925 OPS, proving to be the team’s second-best hitter behind Mike Trout. Though he will not be pitching this season as he recovers from Tommy John surgery, having him in the lineup would provide a boost.
