Not long ago, Sonny Gray was one of baseball’s brightest young pitchers. He has endured something of a lost season in 2016, however, and that season may have already come to an end.
According to MLB.com’s Jane Lee, Gray still isn’t throwing and may not return before season’s end.
Sonny Gray is still shut down from throwing. No telling if he'll be able to pitch again this season.

After three strong seasons, Gray’s ERA ballooned to 5.74 in 2016. He has not been able to give much of a positive contribution to the A’s, who have been very poor this season. In fact, his season has been a struggle from day one. It would probably be best if he just put this behind him and came back stronger for 2017.
