
The Detroit Tigers abruptly fired pitching coach Chris Bosio on Wednesday for unspecified “insensitive comments.”
In a statement, the Tigers announced that Bosio’s contract was terminated effective immediately for “insensitive comments” that violated team policy. The team further stated that they have “zero tolerance for this type of behavior.”

General manager Al Avila offered a bit of clarification, stating that Bosio made insensitive remarks toward a team employee.

This is likely the only on-the-record comment we’ll get about this. The Tigers’ pitching staff had struggled of late, but it’s been made explicitly clear the firing was not performance-related. Bosio’s remarks must have been very bad for the team to immediately fire him.
