Tom Ricketts plans to reach out to Steve Bartman after Cubs victory

Chicago Cubs owner Tom Ricketts says he intends to reach out to Steve Bartman in 2017 following the team’s World Series victory.

Ricketts told Bob Nightengale of USA Today that trying to find a way to give Bartman closure is on his to-do list for 2017.

“I’m sure we’ll reach out to him at the right time, and I’m sure we’ll figure something out that provides closure for everybody,” Ricketts said. “Hopefully, we can make it work.”

Getting Bartman on board may be easier said than done. He has been famously reclusive in the 13 years since the famous incident in the 2003 NLCS, even skipping the team’s recent parade. Perhaps that will change with a formal invitation from the organization, but it has consistently been asserted on his behalf that he just wants to be left alone. It would make for an incredible moment if he did appear at Wrigley Field, though.
