The Chicago White Sox activated veteran outfielder Tommy Pham prior to Wednesday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians.
And, Pham revealed that he ran into White Sox GM Chris Geitz in the elevator and made his case for why he should be activated.

“Probably wait till this weekend.”
Pham didn’t take long to make his presence felt.
He clobbered a three-run home run in the fifth inning to give the White Sox a 3-2 lead.

Pham played just nine games with the New York Mets before being released. He then signed minor league deals with both the Baltimore Orioles and Philadelphia Phillies, and he had 189 plate appearances for Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia’s Triple-A affiliate.
However, the Phillies traded Pham to the White Sox for cash considerations at the end of August, giving Chicago a veteran player with the playoffs in sight.
The White Sox entered Wednesday with a half-game lead over the Guardians for first place in the American League Central. In the end, Pham’s elevator pitch appeared to work, at least early on.
