Trayce Thompson designated for assignment by A’s
Trayce Thompson has been designated for assignment by the Oakland A’s and could end up with a new team soon.
Thompson was called up by the A’s a week and a half ago after they claimed him off waivers. He saw some brief action with the team and went just 1-for-7 with four strikeouts.
The A’s wanted to add some more pitchers to the roster and made room by cutting Thompson.
Since he is out of options, Thompson will now go on waivers where he could be claimed by any team. The 27-year-old outfielder has been well traveled this year. He began spring training with the Dodgers, then was claimed by the Yankees, then the A’s claimed him, and now he’ll be set to join another team. If he doesn’t get claimed, Thompson could choose to accept an assignment to the minor leagues by the A’s.
Thompson has batted .232 in 154 career games with 19 homers and six stolen bases.
