Report: Twins are frontrunners to sign Josh Donaldson

Josh Donaldson

Former MVP Josh Donaldson might be coming on back to the AL Central.

MLB insider Dan Clark reported on Wednesday that the Minnesota Twins have offered a four-year deal to Donaldson and are currently the frontrunners to sign him. Clark is quick to mention though that the 34-year-old wants to return to the Atlanta Braves, who have only extended him a three-year deal, and is likely to do so if they offer a fourth year.

Donaldson, who had a brief stint with the Cleveland Indians in 2018, hit .259 with 37 homers and 94 RBIs last season. He also won NL Comeback Player of the Year. As for the Twins, they won 101 games in 2019 with one of baseball’s best offenses, and Donaldson’s bat would make them that much more potent.

There is no shortage of contenders who covet Donaldson, but the upstart Twins appear to be separating themselves from the pack for the moment.
