JA Happ’s start against the Boston Red Sox in Game 1 of the ALDS on Friday night at Fenway Park did not go at all the way the New York Yankees had hoped it would.
Happ lasted just two-plus innings in the game before Aaron Boone decided to give him the hook with runners on first and third and nobody out in the bottom of the third. Happ had allowed a 3-run home run to JD Martinez in the first inning and then allowed a double and bunt single in the third when Boone pulled him.
The southpaw had pitched well against the Red Sox during the regular season and was excellent after being acquired from Toronto, but he failed to deliver on Friday night.

Happ was officially charged with five runs allowed in 2.0 innings. That was not at all the way he wanted his start to go.
