Colorado Rockies prospect Tyler Massey made an incredible catch on Friday while playing for the Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League. The 24-year-old outfielder went crashing through the wall in the process.
Massey got a great jump on a fly ball that was ripped over his head and appeared like it had a chance to get out of the park. Instead, he jumped up to make the catch and slammed into the wall. Since the game was not held at Wrigley Field, the outfield fence was not all that sturdy. Massey ended up going directly through it.
The catch preserved a 1-0 lead in the 7th inning of a game the Aces won 7-3. Who knew we would be adding to our growing list of web gems in January?
