Vegas native Bryce Harper congratulates Caps on win
Bryce Harper sent his congratulations to the Washington Capitals after they won their first Stanley Cup.
Harper was put into a conflicting situation during the Cup Finals due to his split allegiances. Harper is a Las Vegas native, so finally having a major pro sports team to call his own turned him into a fan of the team. But he’s also a star for the Washington Nationals, so he also wanted to support the local team and not alienate his fans.
Though he was disappointed with Vegas’ loss, Harper still congratulated both teams.
Congrats not only to the @Capitals and the players, but to the whole City of DC. What a year, what a series, and so well deserved! The Cup is coming to town! @Holts170 you are an absolute stud! #DMV

I’m so proud to be born and raised in Las Vegas and so proud to call the @GoldenKnights my team! To be able to root for a team from my home town for the first time in my life was the most fun I’ve ever had! Now I understand what it means to be a fan! What a year fellas!#VGK

Harper actually took some heat from the local fans after he wore Golden Knights apparel to a Caps home game in the Finals. But now that the series is over, he’s ready to get his Caps colors going.
I think it would only be fitting for us the @Nationals to rock the red tmrw night in support of the @Capitals winning the Cup! What do you say? #DMVfamily
