Martinez is coming off a career year for Detroit. He batted .335 with a .974 OPS, 32 home runs and 103 RBIs. His .409 on-base percentage, .974 OPS and 28 intentional walks all led the American League.
Martinez initially turned down a qualifying offer from the Tigers, but he can still sign a long-term deal with them. The Mariners were among the other teams that reportedly were interested in him.
