Victor Martinez to undergo surgery for heart issue, expects to play again
Detroit Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez got good news about his baseball future this week.
Martinez, who has twice been put on the disabled list in 2017 due to an irregular heartbeat, will undergo cardiac ablation surgery to fix the issue, ruling him out for the rest of the season. He should, however, be good to return in 2018.

The procedure aims to fix heart tissue that causes an abnormal heart rhythm.
Heart-related issues are always scary for any athlete, so it’s good to hear that Martinez’s is apparently correctable and he’ll be able to play again.
