Vladimir Guerrero Jr’s knee injury ‘nothing major’
Vladimir Guerrero Jr was forced to leave Saturday’s game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners in the second inning with a knee injury, but fortunately he is not dealing with anything serious.
Guerrero underwent an MRI after exiting, and he said Sunday that the results showed “nothing major.” That means the 20-year-old has no structural damage.
No trip to the IL for Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
MRI showed inflammation in his left knee but “it’s nothing major,” Vladdy says.#BlueJays— Scott Mitchell (@ScottyMitchTSN) August 18, 2019
Vladdy hopes to be back in the lineup “very soon.”

Guerrero put on a show for fans at the Home Run Derby, and he has proven taking part in the event doesn’t always ruin a player’s swing. He’s hitting .274 with 14 home runs and 54 RBI in his first MLB season. The Blue Jays are nowhere near playoff contention and have no reason to rush Guerrero back, but it’s certainly good news that his knee injury is minor.
