Watch: Gary Sanchez costs Yankees run with terrible play

A lack of hustle by Gary Sanchez after a passed ball led to run for the Tampa Bay Rays.
During the first inning of Monday’s game between the Rays and New York Yankees, Sanchez was charged with a passed ball after he appeared to be crossed up by a pitch from Luis Severino. As the ball rolled away from home plate and into foul territory, Sanchez gave little effort to retrieve the baseball. Jake Bauers, who was on second base after hitting a double, came around to score on the play.
This is a bad look for Gary Sanchez.#yankees

Sanchez and Severino were seen in the dugout afterward appearing to discuss what happened in the field. Neither looked to be pleased at what transpired.

Keep in mind that Sanchez has been benched in the past for poor defense. The catcher remained in the game. If he played for the Braves under Brian Snitker, that may not have been the case.
