Watch: White Sox outfielder gets two home run trots in one strange at-bat

White Sox

Chicago White Sox outfielder Daniel Palka got to experience something that few, if any, ever have before: two home run trots for the same at-bat.

In the fourth inning of Chicago’s game against the Boston Red Sox, Palka hit what looked like a home run down the right field line off Boston reliever William Cuevas. Palka took his trot, only to find that the home run was under review — and was correctly ruled a foul ball.

No problem for Palka. Four pitches later, he hit another home run, one which couldn’t be disputed.

We have certainly seen instant replay lead to some weird quirks in home run trots before. It seems unlikely that anyone has ever gotten to do it twice, but Palka can claim that honor.
