Twins’ Willians Astudillo absolutely pimps home run in Winter League
Willians Astudillo quickly became a fan favorite when he was called up to the majors with the Minnesota Twins last June, but he is probably going to make plenty of enemies if he poses for home runs the way in a game on Monday night.
As Andrew Mearns of Cut 4 notes, Astudillo has been destroying the ball while playing for Caribes de Anzoategui in the Venezuelan Winter League, batting .325 with 10 home runs and only four strikeouts in 235 plate appearances. He’s been even better in the league’s playoffs, hitting .400 with a 1.005 OPS in five games thus far. The latest extra-base hit from Astudillo was a sight to behold, and my goodness did he pimp it.

We’ve seen plenty of excessive celebration when players hit home runs, but how often to you see a guy lean on the knob of the bat like that after smashing an Adrian Beltre-style home run on one knee? I reckon those are the types of antics that get you drilled in a future plate appearance, though we’re not advocating for that to happen to Astudillo.
