The New York Yankees are likely to be one of the most aggressive teams in the market ahead of the MLB trade deadline, and one name is popping up as a potential fit.

The Yankees have already inquired with the Arizona Diamondbacks about third baseman Eugenio Suarez, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. However, the Diamondbacks have yet to decide if they plan to sell, and there will be widespread interest from other teams in Suarez if they do.

Yankees are among teams that have inquired on All-Star 3B Eugenio Suarez but the Diamondbacks remain undecided about whether to sell. Mariners, Cubs, others among many others that make sense.

Third base has been a problem for the Yankees all season. They initially used Jazz Chisholm there, but slid him back to second when DJ LeMahieu proved unsuccessful at that position. That once again created an opening at third with no clear solution.

Suarez could certainly present that solution. The 34-year-old already has 31 home runs for the Diamondbacks this season and just came off an All-Star appearance. They may also be motivated to trade him, as he will be a free agent at the end of the year.

Arizona enters play Saturday with a 48-50 record, leaving them lingering on the fringes of contention. They are 5.5 games out of the final NL Wild Card spot, and will probably need to go on a run over the next two weeks to avoid a sell-off.

The Yankees have been pretty open about their desire to improve their roster before July 31. Suarez could be a solution to their third base woes.
