The New York Yankees are reportedly hanging on to Alex Rodriguez for the time being.
According to Christian Red of the New York Daily News, the Yankees have not discussed releasing Rodriguez with a year and a half left on his contract.
The struggling Rodriguez has not had a hit since July 18 and has just four hits in the entire month of July. The Yankees have essentially relegated him to part-time DH duty.
It was reported earlier in the week that the Yankees had discussed eating the remainder of Rodriguez’s contract and letting him walk along with another veteran. Apparently things have not gotten to that point yet, but with the player now 41 years old and barely contributing, you have to wonder how the team will handle his future.
