Yasmani Grandal belts 2-run home run off Max Scherzer in NL Wild Card Game

Yasmani Grandal

The Washington Nationals appeared to have a massive starting pitcher advantage in the NL Wild Card Game Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Yasmani Grandal did what he could to erase that.

Max Scherzer started for the Nats against the Brewers and had leadoff hitter Trent Grisham 2-2 before walking him. The next batter was Grandal, who belted a fastball low and in out to the bullpen in right field to give the Brewers a quick 2-0 lead.

Scherzer allowing a home run to a lefty is no surprise. As TBS mentioned on its telecast, over his last 38 innings entering the game, Scherzer had given up nine home runs, all to lefties.

The Los Angeles Dodgers await the winner of the game, while the St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves meet in the other divisional series.
