Yoenis Cespedes planning to eat award-winning pig?
Yoenis Cespedes attended a county fair over the weekend and ended up purchasing an award-winning pig. Fun little story, right?
Not for the pig.
According to Newsday’s Marc Carig, Cespedes has already sent the prize-winning hog to a butcher.
Cespedes, who owns a farm on Vero Beach, bought the pig for $7,000 at the St. Lucie County Fair. That seems like an incredibly expensive meal, but those who saw his MLB showcase video several years ago from when he defected from Cuba should not be surprised. A portion of that video showed Cespedes roasting a pig.
It should be noted that the woman who first revealed that Cespedes bought the pig had nothing but nice things to say about the Mets outfielder. We shouldn’t assume he did not make his intentions clear when he purchased the hog.
