76ers reportedly interested in trading up to top five
The Philadelphia 76ers have selected in the top five in every draft since 2014, and they may be trying to continue that trend again this year.
In an appearance Friday on SiriusXM NBA Radio’s NBA Draft special, former Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin revealed that the Sixers are looking to trade up for a top-five pick in next week’s draft.

“Philly is very much looking to move up to get somebody they think will go in the top 5.”

The up-and-coming Sixers, who won 52 games last season and made it to the second round of the playoffs, currently hold the No. 10 and No. 26 overall picks. They also have a number of picks in Round 2 (Nos. 38, 39, 56, and 60).
Philadelphia’s roster already boasts several talented frontcourt players, but the backcourt is where they are a bit thinner, especially with the impending unrestricted free agencies of JJ Redick and Marco Belinelli. Furthermore, the Sixers may have added reason to pursue a pre-draft move after ex-GM Bryan Colangelo seemed to tip off their strategy using his alleged burner accounts.
