Alex Caruso turned down interest from Warriors to return to Lakers
Despite a potential opportunity with a top Western Conference rival, Alex Caruso chose to run it back with the only NBA team that he has ever known.
In a feature about Caruso that ran this week, Bleacher Report’s Leo Sepkowitz reported that the 25-year-old guard received interest from about a dozen NBA teams this summer, including the Golden State Warriors. However, Caruso chose to wait as the summer progressed and his Los Angeles Lakers navigated the cap, eventually signing a two-year, $5.5 million deal to return to the team.
Caruso had a strong year with the Lakers in 2018-19, averaging 9.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 21.2 minutes a game. He was also much improved from deep, hitting on a staggering 48.0 percent of his three-point attempts.
The ex-Texas A&M star has also become one of the bigger cult heroes in the NBA today, and that may only grow after what happened to him this summer.
