Amar’e Stoudemire announces his retirement
Amar’e Stoudemire’s playing career appears to be over.
Stoudemire announced in an Instagram post Friday that he would not be returning to Hapoel Jerusalem after being unable to find a suitable role, saying that he is retiring from basketball.
“Although I would have liked to return for another season, the team, coach and I could not find a role that I felt would allow me to meaningfully contribute in the way I have always been accustomed to play I feel it is my time now, to return to the shareholder’s position and help make this team even better,” Stoudemire said in his statement.
Stoudemire helped his team win the league championship in June. He is a co-owner of Hapoel Jerusalem.
