Report: Anthony Davis, David Griffin will continue dialogue after meeting
The New Orleans Pelicans have begun to make their last-ditch push to keep Anthony Davis with the franchise long-term.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Davis and new Pelicans executive vice president David Griffin met on Wednesday and opened a dialogue about the center’s future that is expected to continue.
New Orleans star Anthony Davis and Pels EVP David Griffin met this morning in Los Angeles and are expected to continue a dialogue moving forward, league sources tell ESPN. Griffin is making his case to AD on a future with the Pelicans. Davis can be a free agent next summer.

As it stands, Davis still has a trade demand on the table. However, there’s at least a hint of optimism for Pelicans fans if the two sides still think there’s more to discuss, as appears to be the case.
Much has changed since Davis requested a trade, most notably the Pelicans winning the Zion Williamson draft lottery. That also includes the hiring of Griffin himself, who believes he can convince Davis that he can build a contender around him. It is, perhaps, still a long shot, but if the dialogue is continuing, the door is still open at least a crack.
