
Philadelphia 76ers rookie Ben Simmons will undergo surgery on his foot, according to a report.
ESPN’s Marc Stein says the No. 1 overall draft pick out of LSU will undergo the surgery next week.

Simmons fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during a scrimmage on Friday, X-rays revealed. There is currently no timetable for how long Simmons may be out.
Stein’s report about doctors believing the injury was acute means they do not think it was related to the rookie’s weight gain.
Simmons averaged 12.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game in four NBA Summer League contests.
