NBA executive: Blake Griffin leg issues remain serious concern for interested teams
Blake Griffin has been the subject of trade rumors, but teams may be hesitant to take the plunge due to his recent leg injury.
Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald spoke to an anonymous NBA executive who has fears about Griffin’s partially torn quad tendon injury and believes the problem could be serious going forward.
“I still think there’s a concern with his leg,” the executive said. “We looked into him, and we’re hearing that’s a pretty serious thing. I’m not saying you don’t go after him, but you’d better be really sure about that leg before you go making any big commitments.”
Griffin injured his quad in the Clippers’ Christmas win over the Lakers. He reaggravated the injury in the playoffs and ended up being knocked out for the postseason.
At least one team was reportedly targeting Griffin, but perhaps they share these beliefs. If there’s a wide-ranging belief that Griffin is a big injury risk, it’s going to depress his trade value and he is unlikely to move.
