Blake Griffin isn’t close to returning to the Clippers.
Griffin was ruled out for at least two weeks with a partially torn quad in late December, and it’s been about two and a half weeks since that announcement. According to Doc Rivers, however, Griffin isn’t close to a return.
“He’s running, which is nice and he looked great yesterday just moving around the gym,” Rivers said Wednesday, via Robert Morales of the Long Beach Press-Telegram. “But I think this thing is going to take time, if you want me to be honest. And I don’t know what that actually means.
“But I don’t think we should look for him any time soon.”
The Clippers haven’t lost since Griffin was sidelined. They’re on a nine game winning streak, and the last eight of those wins have been without their star forward, so the team is actually coping well without him, and it’s probably made it easier for the team to allow Griffin to take his time and get healthy and not rush things.
