Bucks adding another ex-Doc Rivers assistant to coaching staff
Doc Rivers may be off to a winless start in Milwaukee, but at least his transition team is looking pretty nice.
Eric Nehm of The Athletic reported on Thursday that the Bucks have added Pete Dominguez to their staff as an assistant coach. Nehm notes Dominguez had previously worked under Rivers on the LA Clippers (as the head video coordinator from 2018-20) and on the Philadelphia 76ers (as a coaching associate from 2020-23).
Dominguez becomes the latest former Rivers deputy to join his staff in Milwaukee. Veteran assistant Rex Kalamian (an assistant under Rivers with the Clippers) joined earlier this week, and a former NBA head coach-turned-Rivers assistant also came aboard prior to that.
The ex-Coach of the Year Rivers has stumbled out of the gate in Milwaukee, going 0-2 (with a blown 13-point lead Monday to lose to the Denver Nuggets and an upset defeat to the lowly Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday). But some struggles were to be expected after Rivers was essentially signed off the street, and Rivers himself has admitted that the Bucks still have big issues to fix.
