You know how we know Carmelo Anthony is taking it one game at a time? He didn’t even know the New York Knicks had a game on Tuesday. After defeating the Phoenix Suns at home on Monday night, the Knicks had to prepare for a quick turnaround and travel to Charlotte to take on the Bobcats. This was news to Anthony.
Carmelo, who scored 29 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in the overtime victory, spoke with Tina Cervasio of the MSG Network after the game. Cervasio ended the interview by reminding Anthony that the Knicks had another game tomorrow, and this was his reaction:
“We got another game tomorrow? S—.”
Before you go ripping Carmelo for not paying attention, keep in mind that the Knicks have won five-straight games and appear to have a pulse. Last week, Chris Herring of the Wall Street Journal noted that Anthony was unaware that the Miami Heat were New York’s next opponent after they beat the Detroit Pistons.
Melo, on whether this is a good time to play Miami: "That's who we play next? I didn't know." Honestly didn't know they were next up.

The Knicks went on to knock off the Heat, so perhaps ‘Melo’s one game at a time strategy is paying off. With the Eastern Conference still wide open, the Knicks actually have themselves in the 8th playoff spot at the moment. They have picked a good time to get hot.
