Carmelo Anthony’s wife La La takes aim at his critics in ‘Happy Birthday’ post

Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony and his wife La La appear to have moved past the relationship troubles they were having a couple of years back, and Mrs. Anthony wants us to know that her husband’s NBA career may not be over just yet.

Carmelo celebrated his 35th birthday on Wednesday, and La La sent him well wishes with a heartfelt post on Instagram that took aim at some of his critics. She also hinted that Carmelo intends to play next season by saying, “Don’t count him out just yet … there’s more to come.”

“No matter how much you’ve been ‘blamed’ ‘overlooked’ ‘underestimated’ ‘scapegoated’ ‘blame it on Melo’ (you see how that turned out right?) regardless of all of the things ‘they’ say. You’ve stayed solid. You’ve never lashed out. You’ve never even spoken a single bad word. You stay humble. You stay in the gym 24/7. A lot of people could learn from you bcuz by now most would have been broken down. Happy Birthday to a real one. Don’t count him out just yet..theres more to come. Happy Birthday @carmeloanthony…love you always. #stayme7o,” La La wrote.

Carmelo appeared in just 10 games for the Houston Rockets this past season before being waived. He averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He appeared to be close to signing with the Los Angeles Lakers at one point, but they decided against it when it became clear they weren’t going to contend for a playoff spot.

La La and Carmelo were separated two years ago amid some disturbing cheating allegations, but they obviously worked things out. Whether or not she’ll be right about his NBA career continuing remains to be seen.
