Cavs fans plan parade for Tristan Thompson over alleged fight
Cleveland Cavaliers fans may have lost LeBron James, but they still have something to celebrate.
Amid reports that Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson punched rival Draymond Green at an ESPYs afterparty, one Cavaliers fan set up a Facebook event to hold a parade in Thompson’s honor.
As of Wednesday afternoon, nearly 3,000 people had committed to attending the gathering. It’s set for Oct. 13, in honor of Thompson’s jersey number, with a set time of 3:10 p.m., which is surely a reference to the 3-1 lead Green’s Warriors blew against the Cavaliers in 2016.
Marcus Thompson III of the Athletic described the altercation, which was broken up by the likes of Kevin Durant and LeBron James. It all stemmed from the first game of the NBA Finals and continued past the end of the series.
As an agitator who has beaten Cleveland in three of the last four NBA Finals, Green isn’t popular in Cleveland. All Thompson had to do was try to attack him and he’s going to be hailed as a hero.
