Cavs owner Dan Gilbert hospitalized with stroke-like symptoms

Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert was hospitalized on Sunday morning after experiencing stroke-like symptoms, according to Quicken Loans, the company he founded.

“He received immediate medical attention and is currently recovering comfortably,” the company said in a statement. “Our collective thoughts and prayers are with Dan for a speedy recovery.”

The 57-year-old businessman became the majority owner of the Cavaliers in 2005. He also owns the G League’s Canton Charge, the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters, and the Arena Football League’s Cleveland Gladiators.

His Cavaliers ownership tenure has coincided with LeBron James’ presence, which in 2016 helped bring the team its first championship in franchise history.
