Charles Barkley gets surprise shipment of churros from San Antonio
Charles Barkley will forever be associated with Texas churros, and we were reminded of that yet again on Sunday when he opened a surprise package he received in the mail from San Antonio.
The contents? Churros, of course.
The box of churros was shipped by the San Antonio Express-News. The “Inside the NBA” crew got quite the kick out of it, and Barkley and Ernie Johnson were brave enough to try some of the likely stale desserts.

Barkley has been mocking the women of San Antonio for years, and he once infamously imitated the way he believes they chow down on churros. One of the funnier parts about Sunday’s installment of The Churro Diaries is that Chuck gave a shout-out to Mike Monroe, who retired from the Express-News over a year ago after 47 years in the industry.
@mikecwright Feeling the love from everyone, especially Chuck and Ernie; somebody let 'em know I was (ahem) "retired" at EN but still going strong at 112

The press room here in Houston is cracking up over Charles shouting out the great @Monroe_SA, including accurately citing his age of 112. https://t.co/IH0wNvVKsY

Last week, Barkley said he wanted to “apologize” (he didn’t really) to the women of San Antonio after he had a churro for the first time.
“I see what all the excitement is about! I had churros last night,” he said. “Them damn things good, Ernie. Them churros good. I see why they got all them big ol’ women down in San Antonio. Man, them churros are the bomb!”
This isn’t the first time Barkley has received churros as a gift, as Tim Duncan’s girlfriend sent him some a couple years back. The joke is certainly getting some mileage.
