Chet Holmgren must have felt like he was looking in a mirror when he saw the funny social media post about him this week.
An image went viral over the weekend of a man wearing black sitting on the shoulders of another man wearing black at what appeared to be a college party. Because of the camera angle from behind and because of the very similar attire of the two, the image made it seem like it was just one really tall guy at the party.
Social media promptly went into comedian mode and joked that it was actually just the Oklahoma City Thunder star Holmgren in that picture.
On Monday, the post drew the attention of Holmgren himself. “Even I thought this was me,” Holmgren wrote along with a laughing-face emoji.
There is certainly a real resemblance there. At 7-foot-1 and 208 pounds, Holmgren has a very tall and lanky build. He also has a pretty similar hairstyle to the guy who was riding on the top floor there.
That said, Holmgren, 22, is now a multi-millionaire who is starting down low for the best team in the NBA this season. Thus, he probably won’t be hanging around very many college parties any more (and especially not as two people).
Holmgren did miss significant time earlier this year due a hip injury suffered on a brutal in-game fall. But now back on the court, he is slowly regaining his form (as well as his sense of humor).
