Some of the contracts handed out in NBA free agency on Friday were the source of a lot of mockery among fans. After all, thanks to the inflated salary cap, Timofey Mozgov and Evan Turner are now making more money than Stephen Curry.
Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley got one of those contracts, a max deal to return him to Memphis. Naturally, fans began pointing out how absurd they felt some of the sums were, with one protesting that Conley makes more than Damian Lillard while tagging Lillard in the tweet.
Ok @mconley11 you good but no way you should be making more than @Dame_Lillard

Lillard was having none of this.
Be happy for a brother and never count another mans bread… #hello … Congrats https://t.co/SkVOpV5fta

Athletes are generally happy for their brethren when they get paid, so you can bet that Lillard isn’t going to question this. If he continues to perform at a high level, he’ll have another payday coming his way eventually. Plus, it’s worth noting that Conley contract is downright sane compared to these five agreed deals.
