Next year’s Philadelphia 76ers are going to bear little resemblance to the team that played this year, at least according to team president Daryl Morey.

Morey promised “a lot of changes” for the 2024-25 season after the team’s first round playoff exit in his year-end media availability Monday. The team president said the team plans to build around Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, and that nobody else on the roster should feel comfortable.

“We’re not going to have continuity,” Morey said, via Dan Gelston of the Associated Press. “We’ll have continuity with our stars and our head coach but we’re going to have a lot of changes this season.

“You have to factor in the age,. We feel like we’re in the window where we have to win now. We’re mostly focused on getting the best players that fit with Joel and Tyrese.”

Embiid, Paul Reed, and Ricky Council IV are the only three Sixers under contract for next season. Maxey is due to become a restricted free agent and likely has a max contract in his future. Everyone else might be gone as the organization tries to maximize its championship window.

The 76ers are believed to be targeting another star to add to their mix, as they will have upwards of $65 million in cap space available to them.
