Delon Wright gets knocked out cold in a nasty preseason collision

Delon Wright colliding with an opponent

Indiana Pacers guard Delon Wright was involved in a very frightening incident during Tuesday’s preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Wright was dribbling the ball near halfcourt in the second quarter of the game at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. Timberwolves guard Jaylen Clark suddenly ran up from Wright’s blind side to try to steal the ball, but Wright turned his head just as Clark was arriving.

As a result, the two players’ heads collided in a nasty scene. Wright, who didn’t even see Clark coming, took the worst of the collision as he was briefly knocked out.

After a couple of seconds, Wright was able to come to his senses again. But he was gushing blood from the head as a result of the collision.

Here is the scary video (showing Wright hitting heads with Clark and then hitting his head a second time against the court as he fell).

Jaylen Clark went for the steal and accidentally knocked heads with Delon Wright, with blood gushing out of his face during the Pacers-Timberwolves game.

Another angle clearly showed that Wright was unconscious for a brief moment there.

Note the double impact – he's unconscious after the head-to-head hit, so he can't protect himself on the fall and took a second hit from the hard floor.

Wright remained down for over a minute, but he eventually rose to his feet and was helped to the locker room by teammates and staff. Meanwhile, Clark only ended up receiving a common foul on the play.

The 33-year-old Wright, a former first-round draft pick, just signed with the Pacers earlier this offseason on a non-guaranteed training camp contract. Meanwhile, it is rare to see a player get knocked out cold during an NBA game, but it has happened in the past.
