Derrick Rose says he wants to remain with Pistons
Derrick Rose is happy right where he is amid the approaching trade deadline.
Speaking with reporters on Saturday, the Detroit Pistons guard said that he wants to remain with the team despite his recent inclusion in trade rumors.
“It’s up to the front office,” said Rose, per Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press. [My agent] Arn [Tellem] gave me his word that if something were to happen, he will text or call, but I told him that I want to stay here, but it’s not up to me. You already know how that goes.”
The former MVP has been perhaps Detroit’s best player this season, averaging 18.9 points and 5.9 assists per game on a career-high 49.9 percent shooting. Rose is also under contract for next season and will be owed $7.7 million.
Many contenders are interested in acquiring Rose before the Feb. 6 deadline, but it sounds like he doesn’t mind riding out the year with the 17-33 Pistons.
