Devin Booker stresses chemistry issues after ’embarrassing’ loss

Devin Booker

Devin Booker cited a lack of chemistry on the team after his Phoenix Suns’ latest loss, which he termed “embarrassing.”

The Suns lost to the Brooklyn Nets at home on Tuesday night to drop to 2-8 on the season. The loss came after the team got a nice home win over Memphis in its previous game, leading Booker to call the team’s performance “embarrassing.”

After the loss, Booker said the Suns’ chemistry was a problem.

“I think all good teams have that trust and chemistry, where they’re able to get on each other and know that it’s for a better purpose,” Booker said, via ESPN. “For us, I don’t think we have that right now. We’re not comfortable with each other, we don’t step on each other’s toes, we don’t push each other, and I think that’s what we need to do.”

Rookie Deandre Ayton agreed, saying they need to learn who can handle being yelled at and who can’t, and who needs encouragement.

The Suns are a rebuilding team. They have some blocks like Booker and Ayton, and they signed Trevor Ariza during the offseason. They’re hoping to see something from some of their other recent top picks like Josh Jackson and Mikal Bridges. They have lots of young players and a very long season ahead of them, with another high draft pick looking extremely likely.
