Report: Doc Rivers targeting 1 coach to join Bucks’ staff
Doc Rivers apparently has his eye on a specific coach to join his Milwaukee Bucks staff.
NBA reporter Marc Stein wrote in a column he published on Wednesday that Rivers is trying to get Sam Cassell to join the Bucks.
Cassell is an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics. He also is said to be a candidate for the Los Angeles Lakers job.
Cassell might have an opportunity to move up the ranks in Boston since top Celtics assistant Charles Lee was hired by the Charlotte Hornets. However, the chance to work under Rivers again could also be appealing.
Cassell coached under Rivers with the Clippers from 2014-2020 and with the 76ers from 2020-2023.
The 54-year-old former point guard Cassell is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Celtics. Boston had the best record in the regular season.
