Draymond Green hits back at Chris Webber over broadcast commentary

Draymond Green Fergie

Even when Draymond Green is being praised, he finds the slight and uses it as fuel.

In an otherwise innocuous bit of commentary, TNT broadcaster Chris Webber praised Green’s importance to the Golden State Warriors, while noting that the forward may not start for every team in the league.

“This is the impact Draymond Green has,” Webber said. “Yes, if he was on other teams and expected to score, he may not be in the starting lineup on certain teams. But on this team, he’s one of their most valuable players.”

While Webber’s assertion is arguable, Green certainly didn’t think much of it, taking shots at the former NBA star during his postgame press conference on Tuesday.

“I don’t think he can find many GMs or coaches that wouldn’t say I wouldn’t start on their team,” Green said, via Logan Murdock of Bay Area News Group. “I’m fine without scoring the ball. I think I’ve created a new lane for guys in this league to where you don’t have to score 20 points to be an All-Star or be a starter in this league.

“That’s fine and my jewelry fits well. So I’m doing really pretty good. You know, much love to C-Webb, though, from Michigan, State of Michigan, you know, we good.”

It’s the way Green works. Even praise is twisted into criticism to use as motivation, and if it helps him out, so be it.
