Draymond Green is now playing in his fifth career playoff series in Houston, and the local fanbase still has not warmed up to him any.
The Golden State Warriors star Green received a profane chant from the Rockets faithful during Game 2 of their first-round series on Wednesday. As the two teams were lining up for a jump ball in the third quarter, the Toyota Center crowd serenaded Green with a loud chant of “F–k you, Draymond!”
Take a look at the video (with the expletive edited out).
The chant appears to have been sparked by Green’s antics towards Rockets forward Tari Eason immediately before the jump ball, which caused a brief delay.
Green also produced many other questionable moments of physicality against the Rockets throughout the contest, which were highlighted in a compilation video by TNT.
The former NBA Defensive Player of the Year Green and the Warriors already faced off against the Rockets four other times in the playoffs prior to this (in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019). Golden State prevailed in all four of those previous meetings, so there is obviously a lot of bad blood stewing with this year’s rematch.
Additionally, Green is known for his extended history of brash (and often times dirty) actions during games, so he will not exactly be popular in any opposing arena that he sets foot in. Notably enough, Green received another harsh chant from the Houston faithful during one of those prior playoff meetings (though that one was a whole lot tamer).
