Report: Draymond Green will appeal $120K fine from Warriors
The Golden State Warriors decided to suspend Draymond Green for one game without pay following his heated exchange with Kevin Durant on Monday night, and Green is clearly not happy that the team chose to go that route.
Since he was suspended without pay, Green will not receive his $120,000 game check for Tuesday’s contest against the Atlanta Hawks. Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated reports that Green accepted the suspension, but he is planning to seek help from the NBA Players Association in appealing the $120K fine.
Players typically don’t appeal fines that come from within their own organization, so that could be an indicator of how angry Green is over the way the Warriors publicly disciplined him. Some view the suspension as choosing sides, and it would not be a surprise if Green sees it the same way.
If the Warriors think the only way they can re-sign Durant this summer is to part ways with Green, they may decide talent outweighs tenure with the organization. As far as one Golden State player is concerned, Durant may have already made up his mind.
