If you were surprised that the Portland Trail Blazers paid Evan Turner $70 million, you’re not alone. It turns out Turner was just as surprised as you were.
According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, upon learning of the contract offer, a stunned Turner called up friend and mentor Andre Iguodala in shock.
Turner was instructed by his agent not to tell anyone about the offer, but he couldn’t help but call Iguodala and exclaim “Yo, Dre! They offered this!”
Iguodala, for what it’s worth, told Turner to take the deal immediately.
Turner’s deal was certainly a stunner. That said, he wasn’t the only player to be utterly shocked by how much a team was willing to pay him.
