Report: Evan Turner working out for Clippers

Evan Turner

The LA Clippers could be bringing in one of Paul George’s former Indiana Pacers teammates.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports reported on Saturday that veteran forward Evan Turner is working out this weekend for the LA Clippers.

The ex-No. 2 overall pick was just acquired by the Minnesota Timberwolves but is a likely buyout candidate on a young, rebuilding team. He is averaging 3.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game this season, but those numbers were deflated by a limited role on the Atlanta Hawks.

The 37-18 Clippers have some depth issues on the wing, especially with Paul George hurting and Kawhi Leonard still not playing in back-to-back games. Meanwhile, Maurice Harkless is gone, Marcus Morris, who was acquired in Harkless’ place, is more of a 4 or a 5, and Landry Shamet is a little undersized.

Though past his prime, Turner, 30, would address a need for the Clippers as well as mark quite the development after he fought the team a few years back.
